My story

My name is Marcel den Hartog, born in 1977. I see myself first and foremost as an adventurer and explorer. Together with my wife Atie, I live by the River Linge in Leerdam, where we enjoy nature, space and travel.

From an early age, I discovered how important it is for me to stay true to what feels right within, even when that means choosing a different path from what others expect. I grew up in a strictly religious family and soon felt a strong desire to explore for myself what truth, freedom and meaning truly meant.

At the age of sixteen, I made my first major journeys to the United States and Australia. Travel became a way for me to encounter different perspectives, expand my boundaries and continually explore who I am and how I relate to the world.

In 2000, during a Māori ritual in New Zealand, I had a profound mystical experience. It became an important turning point and brought to life a question that has remained a central thread throughout my development ever since:

Who are we beyond our roles, beliefs and conditioned identity — and how can we live and act consciously from that deeper level of being?

Since then, I have explored both ancient wisdom traditions and contemporary approaches to personal and professional development. Not to reproduce the past, but to discover what these insights can mean for people today.

Again and again, this brings me back to what I call continuity of consciousness: the ability to remain connected with who you are at the deepest level, not only during meditation or reflection, but especially in the midst of everyday life.

For me, this also touches on a spiritual question: does consciousness completely coincide with our personality and physical existence, or are we also expressions of something greater?

Concepts such as the soul, the Self, Being Energy and a greater consciousness offer language for this exploration. Not as beliefs that need to be accepted, but as invitations to investigate for yourself what may become known through experience, contemplation and life itself.

It is precisely here that I experience a deep affinity with Egyptian and Hermetic spirituality: Not spirituality separate from life, but consciousness lived through life.

My own spiritual path has been shaped in part by my studies with Bindert Halbesma, CaitlĆn Matthews and Caryl Dailey. Today, I am a personal student of Dr. Andy Cooper, with whom I continue to deepen my understanding of the Hermetic Tradition and the Egyptian and Atlantean Mysteries. As an initiated practitioner, I stand within this living tradition myself. Within this path, I explore in particular the nature of consciousness, the Self, and the relationship between the individual human being and a greater consciousness.

Alongside this spiritual path, I completed several postgraduate professional programmes at Phoenix Opleidingen in Utrecht, including Systemic Work, Transactional Analysis Masterclass and the Trainer Programme, focused on facilitating development at the level of identity. I am also internationally certified as an NLP and HNLP Trainer, Reiki Grand Master and Advanced Theta Healingā„¢ Practitioner.

For me, these different paths ultimately explore the same movement: becoming more conscious, knowing more deeply who you are, and increasingly embodying that awareness in how you live and work.

The desire to keep exploring remains my deepest driving force.

About ISEMI Opleidingen

ISEMI was founded from a desire to bring together personal development, professional mastery and spiritual depth.

We believe that development goes beyond acquiring knowledge and techniques. It also requires self-awareness, experience, reflection and the capacity to take responsibility for the way you influence yourself, others and the world around you.

That is why our approach is experiential. We integrate insights from professional communication, leadership, coaching, psychology, systemic work and consciousness development with wisdom from a range of spiritual traditions.

Not to prescribe a single truth, but to create an environment in which you can explore, experience, discern and integrate for yourself.

Our purpose

The name ISEMI refers, for us, to intimate knowing: a way of knowing that goes beyond intellectual understanding and emerges when insight, experience and inner knowing come together.

Our deepest purpose is to guide people in developing continuity of consciousness. By this we mean learning to recognise, experience and embody more deeply that within us which does not completely coincide with our roles, thoughts, achievements and temporary identity.

In everyday life, this means becoming increasingly able to remain connected with your values, essence and inner direction, even when circumstances change or pressure arises. On a spiritual level, it opens a larger question: how does our individual consciousness relate to the greater whole of which we are part?

ISEMI creates space to explore that question for yourself. Not by losing yourself in something greater, but by becoming more fully individuated: becoming who you are and, from there, participating consciously in life.

Our mission

Our mission is to guide people in shaping their own mastery as human beings and professionals.

We do this through experiential education in which knowledge, experience, reflection and practical application are continuously connected.

We begin with what can be directly experienced and gradually deepen into underlying patterns, identity, meaning and consciousness.

In this way, you develop not only new skills, but also the capacity to observe yourself, make conscious choices and take responsibility for your impact. Development becomes not only something you understand, but something you live.

Our vision

We envision a world in which more and more people develop the courage to follow their own path and the responsibility to shape that path consciously.

People who dare to follow their heart without losing their capacity for discernment. People who can act autonomously while remaining connected with others and with the greater whole.

For us, mastery is therefore not an endpoint. It is an ongoing process of awareness, self-realisation and embodiment.

As you come to know yourself more deeply, greater alignment emerges between who you are, what you value and how you act. From that autonomy, you are also better able to support others in their development — not by taking over their process, but by creating the conditions in which they can develop their own wisdom, autonomy and potential.

This is where personal growth, professional craftsmanship and meaningful contribution meet.

The result
Through this learning path, you develop greater continuity of consciousness: the ability to remain connected with who you essentially are while fully participating in life.

Not only in moments of silence and reflection, but especially in your work, relationships, choices and the situations in which you are challenged.

As this inner connection becomes more stable, greater coherence develops between who you are and how you act.

You experience more calm in your choices, greater clarity in complex situations and more space within relationships. You learn to carry responsibility without losing yourself and to support others without taking over their process.

Consciousness then becomes not only something you experience, but something you embody.

What you know deep within becomes visible in how you live.

What others say about us

Reviews
I followed an Inner Strength program with Marcel. The explanations were very clearly supported and well-founded. Marcel is friendly and professional. He listens and applies what he hears. It was educational, and I’ve taken another small step toward further recovery.

When Marcel walked into the room, I immediately noticed his strength and his uniquely clear perspective. He gave a masterclass with us that made an unforgettable impression.
