<h3 id="c0e94a7a-651c-4489-9a35-7c3d918eac99" data-toc-id="c0e94a7a-651c-4489-9a35-7c3d918eac99" style="text-align: left; font-size: 20px; line-height: 1.2;">Introduction</h3>If power is more than dominance, what is it in its deepest form?In the previous article, we explored power as a charged concept. We saw how, in everyday language, power is quickly associated with abuse, oppression or control. At the same time, in a more original sense, the word also points to capacity, influence, boundaries and the ability to act.Through the work of Claude Steiner, we also made an important shift. Power does not have to be understood only as power over another person. In a healthier form, power becomes connected with love, recognition and the quality of our human contact. Power then receives its meaning not only from what someone can enforce, but above all from what someone can open, carry, protect or make possible.This opens the space for a deeper question.What is power when we release it from a purely political or psychological context? What remains when we no longer see power only as position, control or influence, but as an active principle within life itself?From this perspective, power appears in a different light. Not as something that necessarily dominates, but as a creative and ordering force. A capacity through which something that is first inner, invisible or potential can take form in the world.It is precisely here that a meaningful bridge emerges to the ancient Egyptian concept of Heka. <h3 id="0090d51f-9983-4e51-a818-8e5cf0621d85" data-toc-id="0090d51f-9983-4e51-a818-8e5cf0621d85" style="text-align: left; font-size: 20px; line-height: 1.2;">Heka: magic as an active force</h3>The Egyptian word Heka is often translated as magic. In the context of ancient Egypt, however, Heka does not refer only to magic in the modern sense of the word, but to a cosmic creative force through which creation, ensoulment and transformation become active.Heka was not merely something one applied or used. It was also understood as a divine reality in which one participated. It refers to a force that is already present before visible form comes into being: a subtle activity that helps awaken form into life.In this sense, Heka touches upon a deeper layer of power.Not power as domination, control or coercion, but power as the force of manifestation: the ability to bring an inner image, an intention or an inspired direction into expression in reality.When we connect Heka with concepts such as Ka and Ba, this meaning becomes even richer. Ka can be understood as life force or vital energy. Ba refers to ensouled individuality: the soul quality that makes a person unique and recognisable. In this way, Heka moves, as it were, at the intersection of force, soul and form-giving.This gives power a more subtle and more responsible meaning. Power is then not the attempt to bend reality to your will. Power becomes the ability to attune to what wants to come into being, and to consciously, responsibly and soulfully participate in that process.The question then shifts from: How do I gain influence? to: What wants to emerge here, and how can I relate to it?That is an essential shift. Power then becomes not only a matter of position, strategy or personal will, but of presence, attunement and responsibility. <h3 id="c849be37-b0c6-4a7d-8741-ad82ecc22b09" data-toc-id="c849be37-b0c6-4a7d-8741-ad82ecc22b09" style="text-align: left; font-size: 20px; line-height: 1.2;">From control to conscious participation</h3>When we approach Heka in this way, we do not need to remove the mysticism. We can make it more accessible.Heka invites us not to reduce power to control, status or dominance. It shows us that power can also be understood as an inner and outer activity: the ability to connect thoughts, words, intentions and actions in such a way that they set something in motion.In our own time, this is surprisingly relevant.People, leaders and organisations still wrestle with the question of how to exercise strength without becoming hard. How do you give direction without forcing? How do you remain faithful to what is essential without slipping into control? How can you have influence without losing yourself or the other?Seen through Heka, the answer does not lie in more control, but in deeper attunement.Power then becomes a quality of presence. An ability to choose words carefully, to examine intentions, to take inner images seriously and to bring action into alignment with what is true, good and effective.This requires self-knowledge. Because when our intention is unclear or distorted, our power also works through us in unclear or distorted ways. When our inner images are fed by fear, lack or a wounded ego, our words and actions will carry that same energy. But when our intention is carried by clarity, love and inner order, power can become a creative and healing force.In this sense, Heka is not only an ancient Egyptian concept. It is also a mirror.It asks us:<ul><li>From which inner source am I acting?</li></ul> <h3 id="a53d7dec-fd4f-453b-b2bd-8bfeb08c08ad" data-toc-id="a53d7dec-fd4f-453b-b2bd-8bfeb08c08ad" style="text-align: left; font-size: 20px; line-height: 1.2;">The Hermetic line: power as active mind-force</h3>In Hermetic philosophy, we find a related idea. There, power does not primarily appear as power over others, but as active mind-force: the capacity through which consciousness, order and creation are connected.In a Hermetic sense, the human being is not separated from the cosmos. The human being is not an isolated individual trying to control reality from the outside, but a being who participates in a greater living whole. From this perspective, human power is always limited, but also meaningful. It does not consist of absolute control, but of conscious participation.This asks for inner development.Those who do not know themselves often use power reactively. Power can then easily become an extension of fear, the need to prove oneself, woundedness or the desire for control. But those who learn to know themselves discover that power can work differently. Power then becomes connected with self-mastery, attention, truth and the ability to act from a deeper order.In the ISEMI context, you could say: power becomes purer to the extent that it becomes more connected with consciousness.The will to dominate is no longer central. Instead, what matters is the capacity to come into inner and outer alignment. Thinking, feeling, speaking and acting are no longer separate forces that contradict one another, but begin to work together.This is where inner authority arises.Not as hardness.Not as superiority.But as grounded presence. <h3 id="64953ee4-2a6d-497e-85f5-309b91095720" data-toc-id="64953ee4-2a6d-497e-85f5-309b91095720" style="text-align: left; font-size: 20px; line-height: 1.2;">Heka and Ma’at: force requires order</h3>And yet creative force cannot exist without direction. Pure manifestation force without order can easily become chaotic, egocentric or destructive. That is why it is important not to separate Heka from another central Egyptian concept: Ma’at.Ma’at refers to truth, justice, balance, order and harmony. Where Heka represents the active force through which something can take form, Ma’at offers the ethical and cosmic compass by which that force is tested.<blockquote>You could say: Heka is the ensouled creative force. Ma’at is the compass that gives direction, balance and integrity.</blockquote>Without Heka, Ma’at remains an ideal without effect. Without Ma’at, Heka can become force without direction. It is precisely in their mutual relationship that a mature understanding of power emerges. Power does not only ask for energy, vision and decisive action. It also asks for attunement, boundaries and ethics.Not everything that can be done needs to be done. Not every intention is pure simply because it feels powerful. Not every manifestation is healing simply because it appears successful.Here, Egyptian wisdom touches a deeply contemporary question: how do we use our strength in a way that serves the greater whole?This applies to leadership.It applies to coaching and guidance.It applies to communication.It applies to personal development.And perhaps it applies to every conscious choice we make.When power is connected with Ma’at, a different quality arises. Power is no longer an instrument for pushing through one’s own will, but a capacity to contribute to order, beauty, truth and life. <h3 id="fc04abdf-be48-455d-80df-22240dedf02a" data-toc-id="fc04abdf-be48-455d-80df-22240dedf02a" style="text-align: left; font-size: 20px; line-height: 1.2;">Love, power and ethical responsibility</h3>Here, this exploration connects again with the previous article. There we saw that love and power do not have to exclude one another. On the contrary: when both are allowed to flow freely and consciously, they can strengthen each other.Love without power can become powerless. It may feel deeply, but it cannot always protect, set boundaries or act. Power without love can become hard. It may move, but it easily loses contact with humanity, connection and care.In their healthy form, love and power need one another.<blockquote>Love gives direction and humanity to power.Power gives strength and effectiveness to love.</blockquote>Heka helps us understand this connection at a deeper level. It shows that power is not only about exercising influence, but about the ability to allow something to come into being. Something that was previously still invisible. Something that asks for attention, language, intention, courage and action.But precisely for that reason, power is also an ethical responsibility.Because what we think, say and do has an effect. Our words can open or close. Our presence can bring safety or increase tension. Our intentions can connect or manipulate. Our choices can contribute to balance, or to confusion.Power is therefore not only something we have.Power is something we carry. <h3 id="22b12f3d-8c00-4bc9-bec5-af1608c0b110" data-toc-id="22b12f3d-8c00-4bc9-bec5-af1608c0b110" style="text-align: left; font-size: 20px; line-height: 1.2;">The Heka within us</h3>When we translate Heka into our own time, we do not need to adopt it literally as a religious or historical system. We can also understand it as a mirror for a universal human possibility: the ability to connect inner vision, focused intention and decisive action.In that sense, a form of Heka lives within every human being.Not as a trick.Not as supernatural power.But as the natural ability to create from the inside out.You see it when someone finds words for something that had not yet been spoken.You see it when a leader brings calm into a chaotic field.You see it when a coach asks a question through which someone begins to understand themselves anew.You see it when a person takes an inner image so seriously that it slowly takes form in choices, behaviour and reality.But this creative force asks again and again to be tested against our inner Ma’at.Is what I want to create in alignment with truth?Does it serve only my own interest, or also the greater whole?Does it bring more connection, clarity and life?Or does it arise from fear, control or the need for validation?These are not theoretical questions. They are questions of personal leadership.Because the more consciously we relate to our power, the more we discover that true power does not begin with the other. It begins within ourselves: in our intention, our inner posture, our attunement and our willingness to take responsibility for what we bring into the world. <h3 id="03289485-2e1d-4d72-b702-6581aa03545c" data-toc-id="03289485-2e1d-4d72-b702-6581aa03545c" style="text-align: left; font-size: 20px; line-height: 1.2;">Power as creative responsibility</h3>Perhaps this is the deeper invitation of Heka: that we learn to understand power again as creative responsibility.Not as a weapon to dominate with.Not as a control mechanism to suppress uncertainty.Not as a strategy to force reality.But as a creative and ethical capacity to translate inner ensoulment into form.When power is connected with Ma’at, it changes character. It no longer becomes an expression of dominance, but of attunement. Not an attempt to control life, but a willingness to consciously cooperate with what is true, good and life-giving.Heka then does not become force without direction, but ensouled creative force in service of balance, integrity and the greater whole.Seen in this way, power is not a problem we must avoid, but a force we must learn to carry.With clarity.With love.With inner order.And with responsibility for the whole of which we are part.But those who begin to understand power as a creative force will sooner or later arrive at the next question:<ul><li>What gives direction to that force?</li></ul><h3 id="a2a70599-fc70-42cb-8aff-40a21221952a" data-toc-id="a2a70599-fc70-42cb-8aff-40a21221952a" style="text-align: left; font-size: 20px; line-height: 1.2;">This brings us to the next step in this exploration: the will.</h3>Not the will as impulse, preference or control. But the will as deeper direction. As an inner compass.
